Adding Send To Destination Object

If you like to using copy – paste method every time you transfer files to other drive, I’ll suggest you another way to do the same way with shorter way. If you right click a file or folder, you’ll find a menu that calls Send To. With Send To menu, you can drive your file or folder to your destination object. You can copy it or open it with your favorite application. Send To menu comes with its default objects but don’t worry you can add it with your own object.

This article will discuss about adding Send To Menu with shortcut that refer to my data folder. My folder data is C:\Data.

  1. Send To menu object is placed inside C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\SendTo folder. And location of drive maybe different with yours but usually it is placed in root drive and user_name folder is your user name profile folder. To access Send To folder easier, just click Start -> Run, enter %USERPROFILE%\SendTo then press Enter.
  2. Inside SendTo folder you can copy-paste your shortcut or you can create a new shortcut by right click on empty space area and then click New -> Shortcut menu. Or you can click File -> New -> Shortcut menu.
  3. In first step of Create Shortcut wizard, you can to enter your path of your folder or shortcut of your application. In my case, I enter C:\Data because I want to create a shortcut which refers to my Data folder.
  4. Then give your shortcut name, give it a represent name.
  5. Your shortcut has created.
  6. Now, I can file or folder into my data folder faster. Just right click the source file then choose Send To -> Data.
