Colored Object Above Black And White Object

Two days ago, I saw a nice photo on their store wall in a studio photo counter. The photo has black & with background but photo object has color. Then I want to make my son’s photo to be like it. And I’ve tried with Adobe Photoshop and I found a little trick for it.
And remember maybe this isn’t a professional trick, but I think at least you have a “dummy” trick to create the same result. OK, follow these steps:
1. Open your photo that you want to edit.

2. Double click at layer that has name Background in Layers window (if you don’t see them, please open with menu Window -> Layers or you can press F7 key) then Background layer will change to Layer 0.

3. Make selection to your object that will stay colored. To make selection you can use your favorite Lasso Tool (I am using Polygonal Lasso Tool),

when Lasso Tool is ready, then start your heaviest job is to select your object

and when selection object job is enough, double click it to confirm a selection. Make sure start selection and end selection are met.
4. Copy you selection to a new layer by right click on selected object then click Layer via Copy menu.

4. You will see the new layer has added (Layer 1) in Layers window. That layer contains your selection object result.

5. Click Layer 0 and then click Create new fill or adjustment layer button at Layers window and choose Hue/Saturation menu.

6. At Hue/Saturation window slide Saturation slider to -100 values, click OK button.

7. And you’ll see a new layer (Hue/Saturation layer) at Layers window,

and see your photo project now….
