Hide My Computer’s Properties menu

If your right click My Computer icon on desktop or Start menu, a usual pop menu will appear. And if you click Properties menu then, System Properties window will shown. And you can change lot computer settings inside there. And this is a danger ‘window’ for a wrong user. The naughty user may destroy computer through it.

So, to make it safer, you can remove Properties menu to block a way to it.
Try to right click My Computer inside Start menu, you can see Properties menu in there.

To remove it, do these steps:

  1. Open Registry Editor by click Start -> Run menu, enter regedit in box and then press Enter key.

  2. Navigate to this registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ policies.

  3. Right click on policies key, click New – > Key menu to create a new key.

  4. Replace the original value to Explorer name. But if you’ve seen Explorer key in there, you don’t need to create this key.

  5. Right empty space on right panel, and then click New –> DWORD Value menu.

  6. Replace the original value with NoPropertiesMyComputer.

  7. Modify its value to 1 by double click NoPropertiesMyComptuer value, enter value 1 in box and then click OK button.

  8. And you’ll see this value and its value data like this.

  9. Close Registry Editor and restart the computer.
  10. Now your Properties menu has gone.

To show the Properties menu, give it value: 0 or remove NoPropertiesMyComputer menu.
