I always worried if I will install software on my computer, because you know that Windows always add registry entry and other settings. If the installation result is fail, it will make your computer be heavier to load or having other ’strange’ behavior. So maybe your friend suggest to you to backup all setting before you make some installation but sometimes you don’t found an easy method to do it. And once again Windows has prepared that tool for you, I will share it for you…
The tool is called System Restore, if you had install Windows by default, System restore has included with installation. System Restore will make a snapshot of your setting so if you make a fail installation, just use the snapshot to bring back your computer be healthy.
OK, follow my steps:
1. Click Start - All Programs - Accessories- System Tools - System Restore.

2. System Restore Welcome screen will appear on you screen

and if you will backup or make setting snapshot, choose Create a restore point and then click Next button.

3. Type a restore point description that easy to remember, for example when I will install MySQL I was name it “before install mysql update” then click Create button

and it will takes 5 until 15 minutes, depending on how big does the setting database on your computer.
4. And your backup or creating a restore point is finished.

5. If you want to restore it (maybe your installation your new software is fail) just reopen the System Restore and then choose Restore my computer to earlier time then click Next button.

6. Click day on Date Picker until you find your restore point name (in this case my restore point is “before install mysql update”) and if it has found, click your restore point item and then click Next button.

7. You will bring to Confirm Restore Point Selection screen, just click Next button.

8. And you will see the restoration progress, and you computer will shut downed or restarted.

9. If your computer has restart you will confirmed that Restoration is completed and your computer setting will back like before the software installed.

Note:
(a) You can undo the restoration with reopen the System Restore and choose Undo my last restoration and click Next button.
