Manage Windows Accounts

Every computer has its accounts. By default, Windows will install Administrator and Guest account into your computer. This article talks about how to set a password for your account and create a new user name. Actually, you can set its group too, but I thought I will write it on next time. This tutorial is a basic, and maybe useful for a newbie user.

And these are its steps to do it:

  1. Click Start –> Control Panel menu.
  2. In Control Panel, double click Administrative Tools icon.
  3. In Administrative Tools, double click Computer Management icon.
  4. Navigate to Local Users and Groups -> Users key.
  5. To create a password or change user’s password, right click on user name which you want to modify and then click Set Password… menu.
  6. You’ll confirm, just click Proceed button.
  7. Enter your new password, you need to enter same password between New Password and Confirm Password fields and then click OK button to save your new password.

If it success, a message box will appear.
  8. To create a new user, right click on Users key, and then click New User… menu.
  9. Fill all fields in New User form, I like to set the options to User cannot change password and Password never expires but you can set it by your own options. If you’re done, click Create button.
  10. And a new user has created.
