Optimize Excel Sheet Security

I often mad with my Microsoft Excel cells which contain formula has replaced or copied with office partner whereas I had make it for two days. And I found a way for overcame that problem accidentally. Just use the Hidden and Locked cell features on Excel.

OK, follow these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Excel, you can open it with execute it by Start – All Program – Microsoft Excel.

or you also open it with Start -> Run menu.

then enter excel in box and then press ENTER key.

2. You can try it looks like in my example, so let me explain upon my example, B2:B8 cells are description cell and C2:C8 cells are fill area cell and last C12:C13 are my formula cells.

3. So, I want make C2:C8 cells can be write and formula in C12:C13 cells will hidden; so, other users can’t see or copy my formula.

4. First, block C2:C8 cells and right click on it and then choose Format Cells… menu.

5. Choose Protection tab then set to Locked is unchecked and then click OK button. For notify only that Microsoft Excel set entire of cells to Locked value.

4. Next step is blocking C12:C13 cells, right click on it and then choose Format Cells… menu.

5. In Protection tab please check Hidden value and then click OK button, this option will make your formula value is being invisible to other users.

6. And if you sure that your cells has set so click Tools -> Protection -> Protect Sheet menu.

7. You may to check all options value at there and then fill your password in Password to unprotect sheet.

8. Enter your password once again on Confirm Password window.

9. Now, try to replace at Locked cell so you will get a message which say that you unable to change the cell value.

10. You also can try to fill cells where located in Unprotected cells and you get that you can enter everything in there.

11. If you pointing your cursor at Hidden cell you can’t see any formula in there.

12. To unlock the protection sheet, just click Tools -> Protection -> Unprotect Sheet menu and then enter the right password.
