This shortcut is very useful for me. Because if you want to open a shortcut where located on Desktop, you don’t need to minimize your opened windows one by one. In fact, you can also press Windows + M keys to minimize all your opened windows. But I thought Show Desktop icon is more efficient than press those keys combination. In this article, I want write how to create Show Desktop shortcut if you delete it accidentally.

By default, Quick Launch has these standard shortcuts.

And here are steps to re-create Show Desktop shortcut:

  1. Open your Notepad, and then write this script or you can copy-paste text below:
    2. [Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

  2. Save it by click File –> Save menu.
  3. In Save As dialog, enter ShowDesktop.scf as its file name and save it to Desktop and then click OK button.
  4. Now, you’ve had a ShowDesktop shortcut on Desktop. To put the shortcut to your Quick Launch bar, just click and drag it to it.
  5. And it’s done!

That’s a simple question, but I think this article may be good for a beginner.
This is the way:

1. OK, in this case I want take a case to change icon form Skype shortcut.

2. First, right click its icon, and then click Properties menu.

3. Click Shortcut tab in its property page and then click Change Icon button.

4. Choose the listed icons, or you can browse to your own icon, click OK if you’ve chose icon.

5. Now, you icon has changed and click OK button to close property page.

6. Look your result.

7. At step 4, I said you can browse your own icon, to do it, click Browse button in Change Icon dialog and then pointing into your icon collection folder.

8. Then you’ll bring back to Change Icon page, click OK button.

9. Click OK to close Property page.

10. Now, your icon on desktop has changed.
